Leopard
The leopard (Panthera pardus) is a powerful and stealthy big cat known for its distinctive spotted coat and remarkable adaptability. Native to parts of Africa and Asia, it thrives in diverse habitats ranging from savannas and forests to mountains and urban edges. Leopards are solitary, mostly nocturnal hunters with excellent climbing skills, often dragging their prey into trees to keep it safe from scavengers. Their ability to blend into their surroundings and live near human settlements makes them one of the most versatile and elusive predators in the wild.
Monkey
A monkey is a primate known for its intelligence, agility, and often playful behavior. Monkeys are found in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, especially in Central and South America, Africa, and Asia. They are divided into two main groups: New World monkeys (from the Americas) and Old World monkeys (from Africa and Asia). Most monkeys have long tails, live in social groups, and are excellent climbers, spending much of their time in trees. They eat a variety of foods including fruits, leaves, insects, and sometimes small animals. Monkeys are closely related to apes and humans, making them fascinating to study in science and behavior.
Giraffe
A giraffe is the tallest land animal on Earth, known for its extremely long neck, long legs, and distinctive coat with brown patches separated by lighter lines. Native to the savannas and woodlands of Africa, giraffes use their long necks to reach leaves high up in trees, especially from acacias, which make up a large part of their diet. Despite their size, they are gentle and social animals that live in loose groups. Giraffes have excellent eyesight and can run at speeds up to 60 km/h (37 mph) for short bursts. Their long necks also help them spot predators from a distance, making them well adapted to life on the open plains.
Gazelles
A gazelle is a small, graceful antelope known for its slender body, long legs, and incredible speed and agility. Found mostly in Africa and parts of Asia, gazelles live in open grasslands and deserts, where they rely on their speed—up to 97 km/h (60 mph) in short bursts—to escape predators like cheetahs and lions. They usually have light brown coats with white underbellies and distinctive curved horns (in both males and sometimes females). Gazelles are herbivores, feeding mainly on grasses and shrubs, and they often live in herds for protection. Their alertness, speed, and beauty make them one of the most iconic animals of the African plains.
Elephant
Chova is our 30 year old bull elephant, he is a gentle giant through and through and wouldn’t intentionally hurt anything, in fact he’s a bit of a wimp and is very cautious of everything. However when the chips are down you can rely on Chova to be there calming the situation down. Nuanedi is the ditzy Aunty of the herd, who unfortunately cannot have calves of her own. She is very in tune with her herd and keeps tabs on everyone especially Bela and Zambezi. Though she has a cut in her trunk from a loose wire on the cattle farm she has an exceptional sense of smell and can track you down through the bush like a bloodhound, in fact if you have any wounds on your person she will sniff them out. She is caring and dependable. Mussina was born a lady, she is refined in her personality and doesn’t take rubbish from anyone. She is very caring towards those that she respects and is capable of doing almost anything, she will give it a try. Bela is Mussina’s calf born in 2016, she is made of sugar and spice and all things nice and is an inquisitive fast learning little lady in the making, she gets on with everyone but has her favorites like her mom. She loves to get involved with everything going on around her. Shan is the dominant matriarch of the herd, she keeps everyone in their place with an iron trunk! However she has her favorites and is often jealous toward Mussina. She is also a quick learner and can do anything she wants to do! Zambezi is Shan’s son, born in 2015. Zambezi is a typical boy who does everything at ninety miles an hour, is often over eager to please and lands up getting himself into trouble with everyone because he invariably makes a boo-boo. We think he will be a Big softy like his old man Chova, as he has a gentle heart and pleasing personality.
Lion
A lion is a large, powerful wild cat known as the "king of the jungle," though it mainly lives in African grasslands and savannas. Male lions are easily recognized by their thick manes, while females (lionesses) lack manes and do most of the hunting. Lions are social animals, living in groups called prides made up of related females, their cubs, and a few males. They are carnivores, hunting animals like zebras, antelope, and buffalo. Lions are known for their loud roars, which can be heard up to 8 kilometers (5 miles) away. Once found across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, wild lions today mainly live in parts of sub-Saharan Africa, with a small population in India (the Asiatic lion).
